Menu of Professional Development Topics
▪ Trauma-informed Principles and Practices/Social-emotional Learning - Engage educators/youth mentors on creating trauma-informed environments to address Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), effects of climate change events and political/economic unrest, teacher self-care, etc. through activity-based, participant-centered workshops. Participants can apply knowledge to their own lives and create culturally relevant activities for their audiences.
▪ UN Sustainable Development Goals - Facilitate projects/discussions on any of the 17 goals using root cause analysis, understanding local cultural norms and traditions, policy and enforcement to address persistent issues. Participants learn resource mobilization, grant writing skills, and collaboration for sustainable impact.
▪ Career Development - Design programs and workshops by applying communications skills to obtain internships, jobs, academic and exchange program opportunities by learning job search techniques from reputable sites, networking, interviewing, writing cover letters and personal essays, creating CVs, and completing applications properly.
▪ Business Networking Groups - Participants learn how to create a business networking group to creatively promote businesses in their local communities. Participants learn entrepreneurial skills, marketing, collaboration and networking, capacity development, creating a business pitch, etc. Participants practice 21st Century Skills to gain confidence and more economic security. Creating academic to workforce pipelines can also be incorporated.
▪ Activity-based, Learner-centered Instruction - Educators learn through participation how to transform their often lecture style classrooms into more dynamic learning environments, where everyone participates individually and collaboratively using a variety of strategies to make learning fun and engaging and empower teachers and students in the learning journey. Technology and low-resource lesson planning are covered in online and in-person delivery. Discuss using AI effectively to enhance teacher and student activities and performance.
English for Specific Purposes/Non-English Teaching Skills - I draw on my 10 years of experience in educational management to add value with leadership and organizational development, capacity building, youth development, experience with refugees and immigrants, project and program management, nonprofit sector board and stakeholder management, fundraising and grant funding, fiscal and budget development experience, business acumen, and general public administration and operations excellence.
